WRITTEN IN STONE

Graffiti (singular: graffito; the plural is used as a Mass noun is the name for images or lettering scratched, scrawled, painted or marked in any manner on property. Graffiti is any type of public markings that may appear in the forms of simple written words to elaborate wall paintings.

The Consecration Cross, also called a Rounded Cross. The crosses were positioned at the various places that had been anointed with blessed  water or chrism during the consecration of the building.
This one is on the west wall of Kilchatten old church. There is also evidance of it being called a 'Coptic' wheel cross
This  is also the same design as the sun cross used in Pagan symbology

Could the symbol on the left of the picture also be an attempt to scribe a
'Coptic cross'. as shown below.

I would like to think that this graffiti was of some ancient form of writing, but it isn't Ogam, and not exactly runic, but has been done with a purpose, of what, I am uncertain.

There are many examples of graffiti on Luing and surrounding Islands Many more are waiting to be found. From present day to several thousand years ago man has always needed to make his mark on rock..

The pictures above shows both sides of a standing stone.
one cup on first picture, three on second picture.
Triple aligned cups henges or circles may represent
the Orion constellation and theory is that Orion constellation was worshipped
in ancient times.
